Now as a rule of thumb, where the windsurfers go, so do the Kite Surfers, each trying to out do the other and Portland Harbour, just down the road from Kearney Cottage is no exception to that rule.
For the sheer spectacle of the sport, if you’ve never seen it and have no interest in it, you ought to go along and have a look for half an hour. On a good day there’s 40 or 50 massive kites criss-crossing the sky above the Harbour in a fashion that makes you wonder how they don’t all get tangled up but they don’t seem to. At the bottom of each kite’s lines is a small wetsuit-clad human being dancing like a puppet on strings but bizarely controlling the action from the water up even though it appears to be the other way around.
If you’re already a Kite Surfer, then you’ll already know the quality of the venue that we have to offer here and I need write no more on the subject except to say that Kearney Cottage is ideally situated to cater fro your accommodation needs whilst you’re in the area.
